Why & where did you start your yoga journey?

My yoga journey started in the basement of a gym covered in tumbling mats as a way to learn more about my breath to help my opera singing.


How long have you been practicing yoga?

15 years


What do you feel people can gain from yoga? 

SO much!! And as beautiful as all the benefits are of deep calm; self knowing and growth, kindness with yourself and community the world over to include every thing and being, strong mind and body, better relationships, and the list that continues beyond my understanding, I still resist and struggle to stay sure footed on the path. I am grateful for teaching and the yoga community that helps me with the journey.


What has yoga done for you personally?

Oof! So much struggle! But perhaps the biggest gift that is opening is the relationship I am developing with reality, that peace lies under and present within every moment of struggle and pain. So I hope that some day I learn how to surrender to that peace and presence in every moment.


What is your fondest teaching memory at Root River Yoga?

I think it might have been the interchange between myself and the son of a practitioner, when he came peeking in to the edge of the zoom screen as everyone was in Adho Mukha Svanasana. Also, all the puppies!!! 😊
