Why & where did you start your yoga journey?

Though I took my first class in 2003, while commencing addiction treatment in 2008 and recovering, the seeds of a daily practice "took root" giving me a strong path forward toward profound healing and growth. I began sharing my healing process and yoga practice with friends and family from my rural home and that same year my journey as a yoga instructor was set in motion.

How long have you been practicing yoga?

13 years

What do you feel people can gain from yoga?

Yoga guides us to pay attention in each moment from the smallest details of life, such as breathing and eating, to larger goals, such a career, personal relationships, and health. Living mindfully is living life in each moment with intention, meaning, value, authenticity, gratitude, and positive action. That is what I am able to do in my yoga journey and this is my offering to you.

What has yoga done for you personally?

Yoga practices have saved my life by shining light into the darkness of anxiety, depression and addiction allowing me to heal and move on this path with more clarity.

What is your fondest teaching memory at Root River Yoga?

Seeing two neighbors making a lifetime bond for the first time in a yoga class after years of living near one another having never formerly met previously. .
